Neighbourhood Centre

Info, Advice & Referrals

We have a team in the Neighbourhood Centre who are here to help.

Our neighbourhood centre harnesses a safe and inviting enviroment for all of the community to experience. We are a centre who thrives on assisting anyone who works through the door to the best of our ability.

Our goal is always to provide the community with the most accurate information accessible, practical supports and create pathways for community that foster positive outcomes and connection.

We can provide formal and informal support and referral pathways and are able to assist with navigating through paperwork and other online forms as required.

Please contact the desk to book an appointment if this works best for you or just pop in and see if someone is available.

Computers and wifi Available

In our reception MCC has two public computers for general use from 9am to 4pm Monday – Friday. It is not a requirement to book a computer however we have times when both computers are occupied for sometime and you maybe asked to come back.

The public computers are there to help assist those with limited internet and device access. We envisage the computers being used for: resume and cover letter writing, job applications and accessing emails.

Please ensure that no passwords or other personal details are saved to the computers including private documents. We will do our best to delete anything if found.

MCC has free wifi in the reception area, please ask staff for the password.

Printing large documents comes with a small cost, just to cover ink and paper.

Community Pantry

Mareeba Community Centre launched the Community Pantry at 39b Byrnes street in conjunction with QITE back in 2021. After the joint venture, QITE kindly gave the program to MCC to continue.

This pantry is able to be accessed 9:30am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday. The pantry’s items are bought from various places to try and keep the cost as low as possible. All items in the pantry are sold for 75% of the major shopping market price.

We do this to support our community through the cost of living crisis. The program runs on donations and any money spent in the pantry or donated to the pantry goes straight back into to keep it stocked.

Should you wish to donate to the pantry in any capacity please contact the centre.

Seniors Group

Mareeba Community Centre coordinate’s a Seniors Group who meet every fortnight. These meeting are scheduled and a flyer is available on request or pop over to our Latest News section and look for it there.

The Seniors Group is a free group for anyone who thinks the group will benefit them. The group visit locations in and around Mareeba and the Tablelands. These are outlined on the flyer.

We ask that the group bring a morning tea share plate if they wish and anything they would like to share with the group. Light refreshements, tea and coffee is supplied.

We would like to note, transportation is limited when events are on and we encourage our members to car pool where possible.

Transport is provided, to get access to this please contact Miriam.
